Report: Penn State Hoops Guard Irekefe Oweh Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State men’s basketball guard Irekefe Oweh has reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Verbal Commits.

Oweh, who walked on to the team prior to the 2021-22 season, spent one season at St. Thomas Aquinas College before making his way to Happy Valley. He’s the brother of former Penn State football star and current Baltimore Raven Odafe Oweh.

Oweh appeared in just two games for the Nittany Lions against Minnesota and Wagner, respectively, during his only season with the program. He snagged a steal in three minutes of action against the Golden Gophers.

Before coming to Penn State, Oweh played in 12 games for St. Thomas Aquinas in 2020-21. Oweh was a standout on his high school team at Rutgers Prep. He was a senior captain, and he posted 700 points, 250 rebounds, 110 assists, and 80 steals over his four-year career.

If it’s confirmed, Oweh will become the second Nittany Lion guard to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Sam Sessoms, who entered the portal back in March, transferred to Coppin State about a month later.
