Four Penn State Softball Players Earn All-Big Ten Honors
Before their first win in the Big Ten Tournament Wednesday, four Penn State softball players were awarded All-Big Ten honors from the conference.
Bailey Parshall, Cassie Lindmark, Lilia Crouthamel, and Claire Swedberg earned recognition from the conference Wednesday morning.
Parshall claimed her first-team All-Big Ten spot with an outstanding 1.65 ERA across nearly 200 innings pitched during the regular season. She is the first Penn State pitcher to earn first-team honors since Ashley Esparza in 2005.
Lindmark was close behind Parshall, earning second-team honors. The catcher was a force at the plate with a .399 batting average, 61 hits, .511 OBP, and 1.145 OPS, all of which led the team. She finished the regular season with the fifth-best marks in the Big Ten in both batting average and hits.
Crouthamel made the All-Defensive team after playing an impressive center field during the regular season. From diving plays to throwing runners out across the diamond, the honor comes as no surprise for the senior. She’s the third Penn Stater to ever make the All-Defensive team.
Lastly, Claire Swedberg was given the Big Ten Sportsmanship award. The recognition is nothing new for Swedberg, as she was given the team’s Blue and White award and named a graduation marshal for the College of Health and Human Development.
With these four standout athletes, the Nittany Lions will continue their Big Ten Tournament run at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, against No. 2-seeded Nebraska.
