Penn State Ranked No. 93 In World University Rankings

While there’s never been a shadow of a doubt in any of our minds that Penn State is one of the greatest schools in the nation, Penn Staters can now proudly proclaim that their beloved alma mater is one of the top 100 universities in the world.

Penn State is ranked No. 93 in the world and ninth-best among all public universities in the country, according to the 2023 QS World University Rankings released on June 8.

The QS Rankings are considered to be one of the most credible university ranking systems and are becoming increasingly competitive, according to Roger Brindley, the vice provost for Penn State Global.

The rankings take into consideration academic and employer reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, research citations per faculty, and the number of international faculty and students.

Penn State takes home an overall score of 60.8, with a 76.7 in academic reputation and a 96.8 in international research network, among other categories.

Penn State is topped by four other Big Ten schools, which include Illinois at No. 85, Wisconsin at No. 83, Northwestern at No. 32, and Michigan at No. 25. Rivals like Ohio State and Pitt are ranked No. 140 and No. 181, respectively.
