Three-Star Offensive Lineman Joshua Miller Decommits From Penn State Football

Three-star offensive lineman Joshua Miller decommitted from Penn State, he announced via Twitter Monday afternoon. The Class of 2023 recruit will instead join the reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs.

“I want to thank Penn State and the fans for taking a chance on me,” Miller wrote in his announcement. “This was not an easy decision to make.”

“After sitting down my with family, other role models, and listening to my heart… I want to take my commitment to another level,” Miller continued.

On Monday, UGASports reported that Miller’s quick connection with Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was instrumental in getting the three-star recruit to flip just two weeks after his first official visit with the Bulldogs.

“The setting around Georgia, being around the staff, the team, just in all, Georgia just feels like a better home fit for me than Penn State,” Miller said, in the report. “It’s no disrespect to Penn State or no diss to Penn State. Georgia, it just fits me more as a person.”

Miller had previously committed to the Nittany Lions in December. In the months following his commitment, he was active on social media, recruiting fellow Class of 2023 prospects to Happy Valley — even going as far as tweeting his recruitment was “107% shutdown.”

Miller’s decommitment brings head coach James Franklin and his team another loss within its 2023 recruiting class. In March, four-star athlete Neeo Avery decommitted from the program and reopened his recruitment. Coincidentally, Avery was also linked to Georgia during his initial recruitment.

Despite the departure of Miller, Penn State boasts the nation’s fifth-ranked recruiting class and the Big Ten’s second-ranked group, only behind Northwestern. The Nittany Lions’ Class of 2023 still includes three offensive linemen: Alex Birchmeier, Jven Williams, and Anthony Donkoh.
