Lady Lions To Host Virginia In ACC/Big Ten Challenge November 30

Penn State women’s basketball will host Virginia in the 2022 ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday, November 30, the team announced on Monday.

Specific coverage information has yet to be announced, but the game will appear on BTN, BTN+, or an ESPN network.

The Lady Lions last faced the Cavaliers in the 1999 NCAA Tournament. Penn State, the No. 8 seed at the time, beat Virginia 82-69 to advance to the second round of the tournament.

The Lady Lions have a 5-9 record in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and lost their most recent matchup to Boston College in December 2021. In 2018, Penn State lost its contest to Florida State and rebounded in 2019 with a win against Pitt at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Penn State will attempt to improve upon its previous 11-18 record under head coach Carolyn Kieger and three new coaching staff hires. The team’s 2022 season schedule has yet to be announced, but Kieger’s trajectory looks encouraging after two transitional seasons at the helm.
