PJ Mustipher, Chris Stoll Added To Preseason Award Watch Lists
As the calendar turns to August and football season draws closer, two more Penn State football players have been added to award watch lists.
Senior defensive tackle PJ Mustipher was named to the Rotary Lombardi Award watch list on Monday after already being named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Outland Trophy watch lists earlier this offseason.
The Lombardi Award, presented by the Rotary Club of Houston, is annually given to the college player who “best embodies the values and spirit” of NFL Hall of Fame head coach Vince Lombardi.
Mustipher was a semifinalist for the award last season but was derailed by a left knee injury five games in. He is seeking to become the third Nittany Lion to win it, following Bruce Clark in 1978 and Carl Nassib in 2015. Other notable past winners include eventual NFL stars Aaron Donald and Luke Kuechly.
Additionally, long snapper Chris Stoll has been added to the Patrick Mannelly Award watch list.
The Mannelly Award is given to the best long snapper in the country and has been awarded annually since 2019. Stoll, a senior, has appeared in 35 games in his collegiate career.
The Rotary Lombardi Award winner will be announced on December 7, while the Patrick Mannelly Award will be presented on December 10.
