Penn State Men’s Hockey To Host Wear White Game Against Notre Dame
As if Notre Dame’s trip to Hockey Valley wasn’t going to be electric enough, Penn State men’s hockey announced that its annual Wear White game will take place in the team’s matchup with the Fighting Irish at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 21.
The game will be Penn State’s final matchup with Notre Dame for the season and the second of the series at Pegula Ice Arena.
The Nittany Lions dominated Wisconsin in last year’s Wear White game, cruising to a 7-2 victory over the Badgers.
Some of Penn State’s best games have come against Notre Dame since it joined the Big Ten in 2017, and the two programs have procured a bit of a bitter rivalry. The Fighting Irish have knocked the Nittany Lions out of the Big Ten Tournament in heartbreaking losses in 2018 and 2019, but Penn State has had its moments as well, getting revenge against Notre Dame in the 2021 tournament. So, it’s safe to say that this game has the potential to be another Penn State classic.
Last season, the Fighting Irish won all four games against Penn State in the regular season. But this year has the potential to be different, as Penn State’s talent continues to grow which will make them a force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten.
The Nittany Lions will open their season with a two-game slate against Canisius starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 7, at Pegula Ice Arena.
