[Photo Story] Community Enjoys Annual ‘Rally In The Valley’ Food Truck Event
On Sunday afternoon, plenty of students and community members enjoyed a taste of Happy Valley at this year’s Rally in the Valley food truck event.
Proceeds from this event benefitted Housing Transitions and Centre House homeless shelter programs.
From noon to 3 p.m., a range of food trucks blocked off the 200 block of South Allen Street, including Bonnie Blue’s Smokeys & Sweets and Happy Dishes.
There were a wide variety of savory food options, including pizza, burgers, mac and cheese, pulled pork, tacos, and more. Rebelz Mobile Cuisine offered delicious lobster mac and cheese and fried Brussels sprouts.
Shawn Carter of Carter’s Table had a line down the block for his trademark tacos. The Penn State alum began sharing his tacos at the downtown farmers market just six months ago. You can read more about Carter’s passion for cooking here.
Local favorites Brazilian Munchies and Rosie’s Pierogies were in attendance, too.
If savory food wasn’t what folks were looking for, there were plenty of sweeter options to satisfy their cravings. Crumbkowski and Sunset Slush offered mouthwatering homemade pastries and water ice to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth.
Boalsburg’s Idou Coffee offered freshly roasted hot coffee, lattes, cold brew, and chai. In addition to a Sunday afternoon pick-me-up, folks could purchase 12 oz. bags for later.
The 80-degree weather was perfect for families to hang out and participate in CRPR’s Rec on the Go games such as Connect Four, soccer, and hopscotch. Face painting was another popular activity enjoyed by people of all ages.
Performances by acoustic duo Hops & Vines and the Brass Rats ensemble added beautiful tunes to the already beautiful Sunday afternoon.
After Penn State football’s win over Auburn on Saturday, folks enjoyed the event as a way to wind down and spend an afternoon outside with family, friends, and the State College community.
