El Jefe’s Taqueria Raises Over $22K During THON Event

El Jefe’s Taqueria raised $22,085 all For The Kids during the first annual “El Jefe’s FTK” event, according to a release sent out by THON Thursday morning.

The restaurant, located at 352 E. Calder Way, donated every penny of every sale on September 20 to THON. Over 1,800 customers flocked to El Jefe’s on Tuesday to show their support for THON while also enjoying some quality Mexican food.

“Part of the mission of our company is to donate a day of sales to a worthy local charity each year,” El Jefe’s owner John Schall said. We were thrilled to partner with PSU students and THON, but we never expected such an outpouring of support in our first year. Thank you to everyone who came down and waited in line to make this happen and help these children. We look forward to doing it again for as many years as it takes to find a cure.”

In the release, THON stated that this event will occur annually on the third Tuesday of every September moving forward.

“We are so grateful for all the support and hard work that El Jefe’s staff put in to make this event happen,” Michael Olenick, THON 2023’s hospitality director, said. “Their efforts made for such a special day for the entire THON Community, and we are so excited for this event to be the beginning of such an amazing partnership with their team for years to come.”
