Penn State Women’s Volleyball Drops To No. 12 In AVCA Coaches Poll

Penn State women’s volleyball dropped three spots to No. 12 in this week’s AVCA Division I Coaches Poll Monday afternoon. This follows the team’s first weekend of conference play, as it defeated Indiana on Friday and took its first loss of the season to Michigan on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions now have a record of 12-1 in head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s first season, with notable ranked wins against No. 16 Oregon and No. 9 Stanford already this season.

Although the team is only two games into its Big Ten slate, Penn State is in the lowest spot out of the five others in the conference who are also ranked. The Nittany Lions are set to face No. 8 Wisconsin, No. 7 Minnesota, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 5 Purdue, and No. 4 Nebraska in the coming weeks.

The Nittany Lions will have their first test in a conference road game against No. 8 Wisconsin at 9 p.m. on Friday, September 30, in Madison, Wisconsin.
