Centre County To Host IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon July 2

If you’re a runner, biker, or swimmer living in Happy Valley, now is your time to shine.

Centre County will host the newest IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon, which was announced in a press conference at Beaver Stadium Thursday morning.

The inaugural Pennsylvania Happy Valley triathlon will take place in 2023 on Sunday, July 2, with registration opening at noon on Wednesday, October 5.

“We are thrilled to bring the excitement to IRONMAN 70.3 racing to Central Pennsylvania and beautiful Centre and Clinton Counties,” IRONMAN Group Regional Director Drew Wolff said in a press release. “With the longstanding history that triathlon has in this region, we know our athletes will enjoy the stunning scenery, beautiful weather and friendly community here in State College.”

Athletes will go for a 1.2-mile swim in Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir at Bald Eagle State Park, then take a 56-mile bike ride through Centre and Clinton Counties, followed by a 13.1-mile run around Penn State’s campus before crossing the finish line inside Beaver Stadium.

The triathlon will also offer qualifying spots for the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Lahti, Finland.
