Penn State Hoops’ Jalen Pickett Named To Preseason All-Big Ten Team

Penn State men’s basketball guard Jalen Pickett has been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten team, the conference announced on Thursday.

Pickett is one of 11 players to earn the preseason honor.

Last season, Pickett lead the team in scoring, assists, and steals with 13.3 points, 4.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He also finished second on the team with 19 total blocks and third in rebounds with 133.

Pickett is also one of only six active players in college basketball to log 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists in their career. He is one of two players to do so in four seasons, meaning the Nittany Lion has one more season to improve his totals.

Serving as a defensive threat on the perimeter of the court and a versatile weapon on the attack, the Rochester, New York, native is using the extra eligibility granted by the NCAA after COVID-19 to return to Penn State for his fifth collegiate season.

This is the second straight day a Penn State basketball player has earned a preseason honor. Lady Lions star Makenna Marisa was named to the Preseason All-Big Ten team on Wednesday.

Pickett and the Nittany Lions will host the Winthrop Eagles at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 7, at the Bryce Jordan Center to open their season.
