North Atherton Chick-Fil-A To Reopen October 20

It’s almost time to “eat mor chikin,” folks!

State College’s Chick-fil-A, located at 1938 N. Atherton Street, will reopen on Thursday, October 20, as announced by a Facebook post on Monday.

“Time to start a countdown,” the franchise wrote on Facebook. A comment from the restaurant then confirmed that it will be reopening at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The location has been closed since June after Patton Township’s Board of Supervisors approved plans for renovations, including the addition of a second drive-through lane. The renovations will aim to eliminate long lines of vehicles that would frequently overflow onto North Atherton Street.

Before renovations, the drive-through lane could accommodate 15 cars at a time, with up to eight overflow spaces. The new dual drive-through lanes will wrap around the building before merging into one lane for the exit, which will allow space for 45 cars before overflow.

More information and photos from the process can be found on the franchise’s Facebook page.
