[Photo Story] Micah Shrewsberry Hosts His Second Annual ‘Shrews Slamma Jamma’

Students surrounded the East Halls basketball courts Wednesday night to hang out and compete against the Penn State men’s basketball team at the second annual “Shrews Slamma Jamma.”

Head coach Micah Shrewsberry held two competitions for the students to play with the men’s basketball team, which featured two rounds of knockout, as well as a skills challenge that included four shots ranging from a layup to a half-court shot. T-shirts were thrown into the crowd, pizza and posters were handed out, and smiles were put on students’ faces.

We rounded up our favorite photos from the electric event.

Penn State students showed up to cheer on the men’s basketball team ahead of its 2022-2023 season.

The Nittany Lion, Penn State Cheerleaders, and the Lionettes all joined in on the event. They cheered as the team was announced. Seniors Myles Dread and Seth Lundy were pumped for the event.

Shrewsberry got the crowd hyped up by teaching them some new cheers for the new season. He offered a big thank you to everyone who showed up to support the team.

The first round of competitions was a skills challenge where contestants had to make a layup, free throw, three-point shot, and half-court shot. After every shot, the crowd went wild.

The next competition was a friendly game of knockout, where students, players, and a cheerleader showed off their skills. When the winner was crowned at the end, the crowd was beyond excited.

The team seemed to have just as much fun as the students. Players riled up the crowd and got students excited for the highly anticipated season. Shrews Slamma Jamma, once again, was a roaring success.
