Penn State Field Hockey To Face Louisville In First Round Of NCAA Tournament Friday

Penn State field hockey is dancing, folks.

The Nittany Lions are headed to the 2022 NCAA Field Hockey Championship Tournament and will face Louisville at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 7 in the first round. This marks the seventh appearance the program has made in the NCAA Tournament in the last decade.

The game will take place in Ann Arbor, as Michigan will serve as one of the four host sites of the tournament. Penn State will play the winner of Michigan/UAlbany in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 13.

Penn State took on the Cardinals earlier this season, falling short to Louisville 2-1 at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex on August 28.

“We’re excited to be in the NCAA tournament once again,” head coach Char Morett-Curtiss said in a release. “This team has worked extremely hard all season long and has earned the opportunity to play for an NCAA title. We’ve played all three teams who will be at our site, and it is going to be a great weekend of field hockey.”

If Penn State advances past Sunday’s quarterfinals, it will head to Storrs, Connecticut for the national semifinals & final round hosted by UConn. Those games will take place on Friday, November 17 and Sunday, November 20, respectively.
