How Did Centre County Vote In The 2022 General Election?

On Tuesday’s Election Day, Centre County saw a 57.6% voter turnout rate in the general election, which is almost three percentage points higher than the 54.9% turnout the county saw in the 2018 midterms.

According to the county’s unofficial results, there were 61,898 ballots cast out of the 107,425 registered voters. These results, however, do not all include mail-in or absentee ballots.

Last week, John Fetterman, Doug Mastriano, and Josh Shapiro visited State College on the campaign trail ahead of Tuesday’s general election. As of 10 a.m. Friday morning, here’s how Centre County residents voted:

United States Senator

  • John Fetterman (D) — 32,076 votes
  • Mehmet Oz (R) — 27,820 votes
  • Erik Gerhardt (L) — 832 votes
  • Richard Weiss (G) — 370 votes
  • Daniel Wassmer (K) — 354 votes
  • Write-In — 112 votes

Governor

  • Josh Shapiro (D) — 35,230 votes
  • Douglas V. Mastriano (R) — 25,124 votes
  • Matt Hackenburg (L) — 648 votes
  • Christina Digiulio (G) — 207 votes
  • Joe Soloski (K) — 294 votes
  • Write-In — 58 votes

Representative In Congress — 15th Congressional

Glenn “GT” Thompson won his eighth term in the House of Representatives. This area includes Centre, Armstrong, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, Snyder, Tioga, Union, and Warren counties, as well as portions of Indiana, Lycoming, and Venango.

  • Mike Molesevich (D) — 30,279 votes
  • Glenn “GT” Thompson (R) — 30,855 votes
  • Write-In — 101 votes

Representative In The General Assembly — 77th District

Incumbent Scott Conklin once again secured another term in the position he has held since 2017.

  • Scott Conklin (D) — 14,641 votes
  • Steve Yetsko (R) — 8,977 votes
  • Write-In — 41 votes

Representative In The General Assembly — 82nd District

Paul Takac won the newly created 82nd district, which runs down the middle of Centre County (Burnside Township to Harris Township) and includes Penn State and part of State College. The district was expected to lean blue but ultimately be a close race.

  • Paul Takac (D) — 12,588 votes
  • Justin V Behrens (R) — 9,836 votes
  • Write-In — 67 votes

Representative In The General Assembly — 171st District

Incumbent Kerry Benninghoff captured his 14th term in the 171st district, which includes parts of Centre and Mifflin County. He’s served as the House Majority Leader since 2020.

  • Robert Zeigler (D) — 5,099 votes
  • Kerry A Benninghoff (R) — 9,666 votes
  • Write-In — 34 votes
