Penn State Softball Releases Full 2023 Schedule

Penn State softball has announced its schedule for the 2023 season. The Nittany Lions, who finished the 2022 campaign with a 32-22 record, aim to improve from last season under third-year head coach Clarisa Crowell.

Penn State will begin the season with 26 non-conference games. It begins by participating in the Coastal Carolina Tournament against South Dakota, Towson, Coast Carolina, and UMass-Lowell. It’ll then go down to Jacksonville to play Cleveland State, North Florida, Bethune Cookman, Jacksonville, and Memphis in the Jacksonville tournament.

The next non-conference tournament the Nittany Lions will compete in is the Charlotte Tournament, playing Charlotte, Kent State, Georgia Tech, and Boston. Then, they will return to Florida to take on Florida Gulf Coast, the University of South Florida, St. Francis, and Marist in the USF Tournament.

Penn State returns to Happy Valley to host a tournament in mid-March, hosting Cornell, Canisius, Binghamton, and UMBC. Afterward, Pitt comes to town for a mid-week game before conference play begins.

The Nittany Lions begin by playing Iowa at home, followed by a rematch with St. Francis. Then they travel to Minnesota and Northwestern, before coming home to play a mid-week doubleheader against Ohio State. They then play Rutgers and a mid-week game against Bucknell, before traveling down to Maryland for a three-game series.

The last home series of the season will take place over the final weekend of April against Illinois, with the final series of the season being at Purdue.

With Penn State legend Bailey Parshall returning for one final run, the Nittany Lions are motivated to crack the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011. The first game of the season will begin on February 10 against South Dakota.
