Penn State Iranian Student Association To Hold Rally November 30

The Penn State Iranian Student Association will host its second campus-wide event in solidarity with the people of Iran on Wednesday, November 30.

The demonstration will begin in the HUB with an art performance from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Immediately following the art demonstration, there will be a march from the HUB to Old Main, where students are encouraged to gather and rally until 1 p.m.

The demonstration is in remembrance of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who died in police custody in September after being arrested for allegedly not wearing her hijab in accordance with the Iranian government’s standards.

Since Amini’s death, approximately 18,000 people in Iran have been arrested at protests in more than 100 cities and at least 68 universities.
