Penn State Women’s Soccer’s Ally Schlegel Earns First-Team All-American Honors

For the second time in her career, Penn State women’s soccer star Ally Schlegel has earned first-team All-American honors from United Soccer Coaches.

The redshirt senior and two-time captain helped lead the Nittany Lions to their sixth consecutive NCAA third-round appearance and their ninth Big Ten Tournament title.

Schlegel led the team and Big Ten with 13 goals. She also racked up two assists to lead the Nittany Lions with 28 points.

Schlegel is Penn State’s 27th all-time first-team All-American. She joins only seven other Nittany Lions that have been named a first-team All-American on multiple occasions.

The other time Schlegel earned the honor was after her redshirt sophomore year when she led the team with 11 goals, six assists, and 28 points. Additionally, her efforts in the 2021 season propelled her to being named Big Ten Forward of the Year and a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy.

Schlegel is also a three-time first-team All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time first-team All-North Region honoree.

This year’s All-Americans will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, January 14.
