White House Hires Katie Feeney As Social Media Correspondent

Penn State’s very own Katie Feeney is finding herself cruising to another big break.

Last week, Feeney announced on her LinkedIn account that she took on a new role as the sole social media correspondent for AKSM Media’s White House Division. Feeney, who started the position on November 28, is ultimately responsible for “broadening the reporting of the White House via social media platforms as well as detailed coverage of White House events.”

Additionally, the Office of the Press Secretary hired Feeney in attempts to reach a younger audience and limit the spread of misinformation on social media.

“I am ecstatic to begin working with Katie. She has clearly shown ample promise for a flourishing career in broadcasting and I cannot wait to help her grow and watch all of her future successes,” Chief White House Correspondent Emily Barkann said.

So far, Feeney has given her followers an “inside look” of what it is like to spend the day at the White House.

While at Penn State this semester, she will be serving as AKSM Media’s White House social media correspondent in addition to her role with the Washington Commanders. Feeney was hired by the NFL team in April as the league’s first-ever social media correspondent.

Feeney currently has over 12 million followers across all her platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. She has over seven million followers just on TikTok alone.
