Two Penn State Students Arrested Due To Altercation On Fraternity Row
Two Penn State students — Michael Vanbelle and Tyquann Crawford — were recently arrested by State College Police due to their involvement in an alleged altercation between members of their fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, and the residents of 321 Fraternity Row on October 22, 2022. Vanbelle was arrested on January 26, followed by Crawford’s arrest on January 30.
According to court documents, both Vanbelle and Crawford have been charged with one first-degree felony of burglary, one misdemeanor count of simple assault, one felony count of criminal trespassing, and one summary count of harassment.
Vanbelle returned to 321 Fraternity Row on October 22 to recover his wallet and claimed he was assaulted by one of the residents, according to court documents.
Vanbelle and Crawford, along with other members of ATO, allegedly forced their way back inside the residence through a locked sliding glass door later in the evening. The members of ATO became disruptive, leading Crawford to strike one of the residents in the face and knock him down, per court documents.
According to the complaint, the resident recalled Vanbelle and Crawford kicking and punching him, as did an eye witness. The complaint states that the assaulted resident was treated at the hospital for nasal bone fractures as well as other minor injuries.
Vanbelle and Crawford await preliminary hearings on February 8 under the office of Magisterial District Judge Donald Hahn. Each has a bail set at $45,000.
The university didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
