Four-Star Offensive Lineman Chimdy Onoh Commits To Penn State Football

Consider Penn State’s trenches reinforced.

Four-star offensive lineman Chimdy Onoh announced his verbal commitment to Penn State in an Instagram Live video Wednesday afternoon. Onoh is the Nittany Lions’ 18th commit rated four stars or higher.

After taking an official visit to Happy Valley in January, Onoh selected Penn State over Michigan State, Ole Miss, and Rutgers, among others. Onoh joins four-star offensive linemen J’Ven Williams, Alex Birchmeier, and Anthony Donkoh in the Nittany Lions’ Class of 2023.

Clocking in at 6’6″ and 270 pounds, Onoh is only shorter than two of the team’s returning offensive linemen, according to Penn State’s official roster. After Penn State’s humiliating loss to Michigan in October, head coach James Franklin said the team’s size on both sides of the trenches needed to increase.

“We gotta get bigger. We’re undersized in some spots,” Franklin said. “Everybody thinks they’re Aaron Donald now, and they’re not. Everybody sees [Donald] playing undersized, and everybody thinks they’re that guy. There’s been one of those guys in the last 100 years of football.”

The Dundalk, Maryland resident ranks as the seventh-best prospect from Maryland and the 28th overall offensive lineman nationally, according to 247Sports.

In his 12 games for Dundalk High School this season, Onoh recorded 46 pancake blocks. Onoh also played on the defensive side of the ball, picking up 10 tackles and four sacks. For your first on-field look at Onoh, check out his Hudl highlight reel.

Based on 247Sports’s rankings, Penn State now boasts the No. 13 class in the 2023 recruiting cycle, jumping Texas A&M and Florida. The Nittany Lions still trail Ohio State in the conference standings, as the Buckeyes sit at No. 5 overall.
