Former Penn State Quarterback Matt McGloin Emceeing THON 2023 Pep Rally

Matt McGloin is back in Happy Valley, folks!

The former Penn State quarterback is one of two emcees for the THON 2023 Pep Rally. He joins Bellisario College of Communications student Destiny Sanchez.

McGloin walked on ran on to Joe Paterno’s team prior to the 2008 season and eventually played his way into a starting role during the 2010 season. Over the course of his Penn State career, he threw for 6,390 yards, 53 total touchdowns (46 passing, seven rushing), and 19 interceptions while completing 57.4% of his passes.

His storied Nittany Lion career makes him objectively one of the most successful run-on stories in program history.

It shouldn’t be a surprise McGloin is one of the emcees for tonight’s festivities. He graduated from Penn State with a degree in broadcast journalism and even started his own podcast after his NFL career. He’s clearly putting that degree to use.

After McGloin took the stage, President Neeli Bendapudi, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Pat Kraft, and James Franklin all addressed the ecstatic crowd in the Bryce Jordan Center. Later on, Penn State wrestling legend Bo Nickal made an appearance and briefly spoke to the THON crowd, too.
