Power Ranking Names Seen On The Jumbotron At THON 2023

No matter your role at THON, it’s important to keep yourself occupied throughout the long days and nights.

There are many ways to do this, like enjoying the live performances, walking through the concourse of the BJC (many times), or maybe even running a 5K. For some of us at Onward State, there’s nothing better than watching the names of those on the floor go by on the big screen.

We felt it would only be right to power rank our favorite names on the screen, based on, well, absolutely nothing.

10. Rich Karwoski

This name really did something for us. You kind of have to respect people who go by Rich other than the alternative name for Richard. Also, when reading Karwoski, it just makes everyone think about Mike Wasowski, a Pixar superhero and frat legend. Karwoski, and I suppose his parents, did more than enough to make the top 10.

9. Gary Meanor

Gary is a name that’s a lot like Bob. It’s a great name, and it never really misses. Gary doesn’t need too much flash and still cracks the top 10. That’s what Gary does.

8. Bailey Zednik

Anyone who has a Z in their name is automatically cooler. I don’t know what it is, but it’s just a nice touch to any name. Bailey Z also made me think of Bailey Zappe, which is kind of cool in a sense. Congrats to Zednik on being No. 8.

7. Michelle Mischler

There are only a few things better than names with a Z. And one of those things is alliteration in a name. Robert Frost could only wish to write something as fun and creative as Michelle Mischler. There are a few names with alliteration, but this one really impressed us.

6. Jim Betzko

Jimmy B clocks in at six. A trend is clearly forming here — if you have a Z in your name, it can only mean good things. We don’t know Jim personally, but It’s already known that he’s just a genuine guy you can have a beer with.

5. Matthew Visomirsksi

Matthew is a fine name, but Visomirski is a great name. This guy sounds like he was born to lace up his skates and play in the NHL. This is the kind of name that jumps off the big screen and grabs you. Unlike some of the other names, this has all of the flash, and that is why Visomirski finds himself in the top five.

4. Campbelle Boltz

Campbelle Boltz is an elite name. The opportunity for wordplay alone gives this name unlimited potential. Boltz is an unreal last name, and it really dominates so many categories. We appreciate whoever gave this family this last name because it really does everything we like to see in a name.

3. Julia Szyszko

This one confused us a bit. We weren’t sure if it was awesome or just too much. After consideration, we decided this is a top-tier last name. It’s a name that required about six checks just to make sure we got it right. With that being said, the confusion and lack of vowels in this last name are what made it top three for us.

2. Jacob Quinones

Naturally, after reading this name we immediately thought of John Quinones from the world-famous television program “What Would You Do?” and also dream Podward State guest. Obviously, with this last name, it was easy to decide this name would be top three. Something about the name Jacob Quinones rolls off the tongue, and that makes it a truly special name.

1. Angelica Tripodianos

Not much needs to be said about this winner. It’s just an unbelievable name, and saying Tripodianos is one of the most fun things we’ve ever attempted. Angelica Tripodianos is the clear No. 1 name that we have seen on the big screens of the BJC this weekend.
