Penn State Hoops’ Jalen Pickett Named To Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List

Penn State men’s basketball guard Jalen Pickett was named to the late season watch list for Oscar Robertson Trophy, as announced by the award’s committee Thursday. The award annually recognizes the best player in college basketball.

Pickett is one of 15 finalists to make the Robertson Trophy’s late season list. Purdue’s Zach Edey and Iowa’s Kris Murray round out the Big Ten’s representation on the watch list.

This season, Pickett is among the nation’s top players, averaging 18.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and seven assists per game. In February, Pickett was named the ESPN National Player of the Week amid a stretch that saw the Nittany Lion notch the program’s first 40-point performances since 1961.

The US Basketball Writers Association will name the Oscar Robertson Trophy’s award winner at the 2023 Men’s Final Four.

Penn State will continue vying for an elusive spot in the 2023 March Madness tournament with its final game of the season. The Nittany Lions are set to host No. 21 Maryland at noon on March 4. Big Ten Tournament play will begin on March 8.
