Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Ranked No. 5 In Latest Poll, Women’s Team Back In Top 25

Penn State men’s lacrosse jumped three spots to No. 5 in the latest Inside Lacrosse rankings on Monday.

The three-spot leap comes after the team upset then-No. 3 Cornell in Ithaca on Saturday. That was the Nittany Lions’ third consecutive victory over a top-10 team.

Penn State carries a 5-1 record into its match against Marquette at noon on Saturday, March 18, before opening Big Ten play the following weekend against Maryland.

A two-game skid briefly kept the women’s team out of the national rankings, but Missy Doherty’s squad is back in the top 25, slotting in at No. 25, after defeating then-No. 17 Rutgers.

This was the first conference opponent of the season for Penn State, and it won’t play another conference foe until March 25 when it takes on Ohio State.

The Nittany Lions are back in action this week at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, against Towson at Panzer Stadium. The team will then travel to Princeton for a game on Saturday.
