Penn State Hoops’ Three-Star Signee Logan Imes Requests Release
The Penn State men’s basketball mass exodus is well underway.
Three-star combo guard Logan Imes requested his release from the program on Tuesday following the departure of head coach Micah Shrewsberry to Notre Dame. The news was first reported by Indiana Star’s Kyle Neddenriep and was then retweeted by Imes.
Neddenriep noted that Imes is still “open to Penn State” once a new staff is in place.
The Zionsville, Indiana, native was Shrewsberry’s second commitment from the Class of 2023 and a former teammate of Braeden Shrewsberry from Indiana Elite. Imes is the No. 8-ranked prospect coming out of the state and is ranked as the 25th-best combo guard in the country, according to 247Sports.
In his junior year, Imes averaged 17.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game at Zionsville High School.
Imes received offers from other nine schools, including Creighton, Virginia Tech, and Butler, but signed with the Nittany Lions in March 2022. Adam Fisher served as the primary recruiter for Imes, according to 247Sports.
Recruiting classmate and four-star forward Carey Booth reportedly requested his release on March 23. Braeden Shrewsberry remains as the Nittany Lions’ sole signee from the Class of 2023 at this point, but his release request should be anticipated.
Dallion Johnson and Caleb Dorsey entered the transfer portal on March 22, and Seth Lundy chose to forgo his final year of eligibility to declare for the 2023 NBA Draft. Additionally, Evan Mahaffey entered the transfer portal, too.
