Bees Knees Coffee’s ‘Up Up And Away Cafe’ To Open In University Park Airport April 10

For those heading to University Park Airport for flights in and out of State College, there will be a new spot to grab a coffee and a snack before or after your flight.

Bees Knees Coffee recently announced via Facebook that it will be moving into the University Park Airport. Taking on a more fitting name for an airport, the location will be called “Up Up and Away Cafe” and will open on Monday, April 10.

Despite the name change, Up Up and Away Cafe will continue to feature the Bees Knees Coffee menu, which many Centre County folks know and love. Bees Knees has previously been housed in a mobile trailer and could be ordered for delivery, pickup, or found in cans at local businesses across State College.

When the Bees Knees Coffee trailer wasn’t traveling to events or farmers markets, it remained in residence at a takeout window in Pleasant Gap. However, with the opening of the physical indoor location, the takeout window will close on Thursday, April 6.

Owner Bromlyn Fitzgerald and her small team plan to continue to make deliveries, attend farmers markets, and provide products for local businesses. However, she noted that these services might need to become limited as she and her employees balance the new schedule of Up Up and Away Cafe.

The location in the airport will open daily at 5:30 a.m. for drinks and at 6 a.m. for food. The espresso machine and kitchen will close at 5:30 p.m., with the location closing at 6 p.m.

The food menu will include freshly baked pastries, breakfast specials, and lunch specials, many of the ingredients for which will be sourced from local farms and businesses. The menu will resemble Fitzgerald’s former physical location, Daily Dose Cafe at Geisinger in Gray’s Woods, which was her first foray into cafe ownership.

Customers are welcome to head inside the University Park Airport to the cafe even if they don’t have a flight. The airport allows free parking for up to 30 minutes and will validate parking with proof of purchase from the cafe.
