Penn State To Host ‘Care Fair’ April 19
Penn State will host a Care Fair from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, in Room 134 in the HUB to boost morale, reduce stress, and support students’ overall well-being as finals week approaches.
The Care Fair provides students with a break from academic and personal stresses while inviting them to learn more about “mindfulness, stress management, and sleep.”
“We designed it to create an opportunity for students to learn coping strategies they can use throughout their academic career — especially at the end of the semester,” Erin Raupers, assistant director of Health Promotion and Wellness, said.
The fair will feature interactive stations where students can engage in soothing activities. Attendees are invited to learn healthy stress and sleep strategies, design their own “mind jars,” build a mini sculpture with kinetic sand, and create a self-care box. Ten-minute guided somatic meditations will also occur every 30 minutes beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Students may also access a variety of stress-relieving resources, including coloring books, colored pencils, stress management workbooks, and sleep kits.
In addition to the Care Fair, Health Promotion and Wellness will host a variety of events throughout the end of the semester, including Mindful Monday, Well-being Wednesday, and Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing).
The Care Fair is a collaboration between Campus Recreation, the College of Health and Human Development, Counseling and Psychological Services, and Health Promotion and Wellness. For more information, visit the Health Promotion and Wellness Events & Programs website.
