Bailey Parshall Breaks Penn State Softball’s All-Time Strikeout Record

Penn State softball pitcher Bailey Parshall notched her 746th career strikeout during the first inning of her start against Bucknell on Tuesday, giving her sole possession of the team’s all-time record.

Parshall’s strikeout broke a tie with Missy Beseres, who pitched for the Nittany Lions from 2002 to 2006.

Parshall, who hails from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, debuted at Penn State in 2019 and is currently in her fifth season with the team. The southpaw has posted an impressive 1.33 ERA in 27 appearances this season.

Parshall also owns Penn State’s all-time records for strikeouts in a single game and saves in a season. Her 14 career shutouts rank sixth in program history.

Penn State softball boats a 24-14 record this season and will be back in action at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 21, against Maryland in College Park.
