Penn State Softball’s Lexie Black Named Big Ten Softball Player Of The Week

After a single-game triumph over Bucknell and a series victory against Maryland, Penn State softball infielder Lexie Black was named the Big Ten Softball Player of the Week on Monday.

Black registered a .500 batting average, a 1.400 slugging percentage, and a .583 on-base percentage en route to the Nittany Lions’ 3-1 record during the week. Black closed out the weekly outing with three home runs, seven RBIs, and three runs scored across four games.

The first baseman tallied three combined RBI against Bucknell and Maryland and recorded a three-run home run in Penn State’s 9-0 shutout of the Bison.

It’s been over a year since a Nittany Lion earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors. Ally Kurland was the last to receive the weekly award on April 4, 2022.

Penn State will host its final home series of the regular season against Illinois beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 28, at Beard Field.
