Penn State Football Announces 2023 Home Game Themes

We’re almost back in Beaver Stadium, folks.

With only 110 days left before the Nittany Lions’ season opener against West Virginia, Penn State announced themes for all seven of its home games on Monday.

Along with a full-stadium White Out at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, against Iowa, the Nittany Lions will host several themes throughout the 2023 campaign.

Penn State’s home and season opener against West Virginia will be the second ever Helmet Stripe game. The majority of Beaver Stadium will wear white and a select few sections on the east and west sides wear blue to create a single stripe resembling a classic Penn State football helmet.

After the Helmet Stripe game, the Nittany Lions will take on Delaware in the THON Spirit Day game on September 9. Following the THON Spirit Day, Penn State will host the 2023 White Out at 8 p.m. on September 23, against Iowa.

Penn State’s annual Homecoming game will take place on October 14 against UMass, where the Nittany Lions will don their “Generations of Greatness” throwback uniforms. Homecoming weekend will also include the annual homecoming parade on Friday, October 13. This year’s theme is “Illuminate The Lion Within.”

Beaver Stadium will honor servicemen and women on October 28 against Indiana during the Military Appreciation game. Typically, Beaver Stadium offers complimentary “Seats for Servicemen” for veterans and their families.

On November 11, the Stripe Out will make its return against Michigan.

The home schedule will round out with the Senior Day and All-U game against Rutgers on November 18.

Outside of home games, Penn State will face Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Maryland, and Michigan State.
