Former Miami Center Favour Aire Commits To Penn State Hoops

Penn State men’s basketball is now down to just one scholarship position remaining on its roster, folks.

Miami center Favour Aire announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions on Monday via Instagram.

He’ll arrive in Happy Valley with three years of eligibility remaining.

Aire, a 6’11,” 250-pound center, rostered for one year at Miami under Jim Larrañaga. The freshman posted an average of nine points and 0.6 rebounds per game through 14 appearances in his rookie season.

The Nigeria native was a three-star prospect during his recruitment and ranked as the No. 22 center in the United States at the time. Aire received offers from Louisville, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and others but chose Miami in November 2021.

Aire announced his entrance into the transfer portal just three days following the conclusion of the Hurricanes’ season and their loss to UCONN in the NCAA Tournament Final Four.

The center will join transfers Ace Baldwin Jr., Nick Kern Jr., Zach Hicks, Puff Johnson, Qudus Wahab, Leo O’Boyle, and RayQuawndis Mitchell. Returners Kanye Clary, Jameel Brown, and Demetrius Lilley, and recruit Bragi Gudmundsson will also be featured on Rhoades’ 2023-24 roster.
