Penn State Ranked No. 83 By QS World University Rankings
Penn State was ranked the No. 83 university in the world by QS World University Rankings, an annual report that ranks 1,500 universities globally. Penn State rose 10 places from its No. 93 spot last year.
The university was also ranked as the No. 24 university in the country and the fourth-best school in the Big Ten, sitting behind Michigan, Northwestern, and Illinois. Penn State’s national ranking bumps the school up two places after it was ranked No. 26 in 2022. Rivals Ohio State and Pitt were ranked No. 151 and No. 222 in the world, respectively.
“Penn State’s positioning in this competitive ranking highlights the exceptional quality of our faculty, staff, students and alumni, and the work they are doing to advance the University’s mission and standing on a global stage,” Penn State Executive Vice President and Provost Justin Schwartz said. “It is gratifying to see Penn State recognized among so many outstanding global institutions.”
The QS World University Rankings uses metrics like employability, sustainability, and faculty-student ratio to determine its rankings and pulls 17.5 million academic papers for research. Penn State scored 63.1 out of 100, scoring well in sustainability and international research network, while struggling in faculty-student and international faculty ratios.
