Penn State Hoops To Face Texas A&M In ESPN Events Invitational

Rematch szn.

Penn State men’s basketball will face Texas A&M in the ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando, Florida, the tournament announced Tuesday.

The event, which takes place from November 23 to 26, will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Penn State and Texas A&M most recently met in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The Nittany Lions, then led by Micah Shrewsberry, routed the Aggies 76-59, highlighted by an 8-for-10 performance from Andrew Funk from beyond the arc.

Including the groups’ recent March matchup, Texas A&M leads Penn State 3-1 in all-time meetings. The Aggies emerged victorious in two matches in 2005 and once in 2017.

Beyond the Nittany Lions’ first-round opponent, there will be plenty of familiar faces in Orlando. Penn State recorded a win against Butler and a last-second loss to Virginia Tech in the 2022-23 season. Meanwhile, head coach Mike Rhoades’ former VCU squad will also be featured in the eight-team field. The remaining teams include Florida Atlantic, Iowa State, and Boise State.

Single-game tickets will go on sale on October 2, while ticket packages for every game are available here. More information about the ESPN Events Invitational can be found on its website.
