Things Less Common Than A Country Artist Performing At Penn State

Country music fans around Penn State, rejoice!

Country artist Luke Combs is coming to Beaver Stadium on April 27, 2024, for his “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” tour.

Country artists seem to love coming to Happy Valley, so we compiled a list of things that are less common than a country artist performing at Penn State.

A Freshman Showing Up To The Wrong Building During Sylly Week

In honor of sylly week being just days away, this one makes the top of the list. Surely, you will sit down in your lecture at Thomas 101 and some little guy will peek his head in the door looking for class at the Willard Building. How that poor soul ended up at Thomas, the world may never know.

Penn State Football Fans Saying That “This Is The Year”

We’ve been hearing it since the Rose Bowl.

Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen are college football’s best running-back duo. Kalen King is the best cornerback in the nation. Olu Fashanu is going to be a top-five draft pick. Chop Robinson is going to be one of the nation’s best edge rushers. And, of course, Drew Allar was a five-star quarterback in high school.

Maybe 2023 is Penn State football’s chance to win a national title. Maybe it isn’t. Regardless, the hype train chugs along without braking.

Penn State Women’s Soccer Being Picked To Win The Big Ten

Penn State women’s soccer was picked to win the Big Ten by the conference Tuesday, solidifying its place as one of the nation’s best teams. The catch? The team has been ranked at the top of every Big Ten preseason poll since 2003.

Entering the 2023 academic year, around half of Penn State’s student populace wasn’t around in a year where the Nittany Lions weren’t picked to win the Big Ten.

Penn State Women’s Soccer Picking Up A Star Forward From The Transfer Portal

Oh, there’s more Penn State women’s soccer hype? There sure is. Rebecca Cooke was named as the forward to watch in women’s Division I soccer Tuesday by the United Soccer Coaches. After Penn State snagged NWSL draft pick Penelope Hocking in the transfer portal last season, Cook is just the latest top forward to come to Happy Valley through the portal.

Failing A Test At The Pollock Testing Center

Somehow, some way, tests are just harder in the Pollock Testing Center. Maybe it’s the poor air ventilation system. Maybe the freshmen playing volleyball outside are extra loud. Maybe you’re taking a 400-level engineering class (rough). Whatever it is, tests at the Pollock Testing Center are a quick trip to stress and failure.

Seeing A Student-Athlete With A Track & Field Backpack

Student-athletes with scooters are a common sight around Penn State. Student-athletes with backpacks are even more common. The most common student-athlete drip is always the track & field backpack, and somehow they’re always in front of the HUB. No way these guys are all on scholarship, right?

Having An Existential Crisis Because You Live In The Middle Of Pennsylvania

We’ve all been there, right? You wake up in the morning, stretch, and look out your window. And then it hits you: if you drive 10 minutes in any direction, the closest major city is three hours away (Harrisburg doesn’t count).

Fear not, friend. There are 50,000 people who are experiencing that same feeling. It will go away in 15 minutes when you start thinking about your classwork.
