Penn State Women’s Soccer Rises To No. 8 In United Soccer Coaches Poll

Penn State women’s soccer is on the come up.

The Nittany Lions were named No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches poll released Tuesday. The placement is a two-place jump from their preseason ranking of No. 10.

The Nittany Lions are two games into their 2023 season, earning a draw against then-No. 2 North Carolina and a win against West Chester. The 8-0 victory over the Golden Rams set several program single-game records, including tying the record for most shots in a game with 45 and taking the most corners in a match with 20.

Penn State continues to stand as the highest-ranked Big Ten team in the poll. No. 14 Michigan State currently stands as the Nittany Lions’ closest-ranked conference opponent after it bumped up from No. 17 in the preseason poll.

Penn State returns to action at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, when they take on West Virginia in Morgantown.
