Big Ten To Debut Availability Report & U.S. Integrity Partnership For 2023 Football Season

Gameday student-athlete availability reports will be added to the Big Ten for the 2023 football season, the conference announced Friday. Additionally, the Big Ten will partner with U.S. Integrity.

The U.S. Integrity partnership is designed to “enhance monitoring efforts and provide additional educational resources to help prevent student-athletes, coaches, and staff from engaging in prohibited sports wagering,” according to the press release.

“The well-being of our students, coaches, and staff, as well as the integrity of our competitions are of paramount importance,” Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti said. “Enhanced transparency through availability reporting and partnering with U.S. Integrity strengthens our efforts to protect those who participate in our games as well as the integrity of the games themselves. I’m grateful for the collaboration of our schools, coaches, and administrators.”

Meanwhile, the gameday student-athlete availability report will be released “no later than two hours” before kickoffs for Big Ten football games. Each school is responsible for submitting these reports and will be subject to disciplinary action under the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy if a school fails to cooperate.

Penn State opens the 2023 season against West Virginia at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, at Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions don’t begin their Big Ten schedule until later next month, when they face Illinois at noon on Saturday, September 16, in Champaign, Illinois.
