Involvement Fair Superlatives 2023
This week, hundreds of student clubs and organizations took to HUB Lawn to set up tables, booths, and posters to recruit new members. With over 1,000 options to choose from, it can leave many wondering what the best pick is.
While we can’t tell you how to spend your time or that one club is better than another, we decided to narrow down the many options…superlative style.
Most Likely To Cure Childhood Cancer: THON
Penn State’s THON is one of the best ways to get involved on campus. With all proceeds benefiting Four Diamonds and childhood cancer research, you’re guaranteed to know your time will be put toward helping a great cause. FTK.
The “Gone Fishing” Award: Club Bass Fishing
With so much focus on professional development clubs and organizations, it can be easy to forget about the simpler things in life. Club Bass Fishing reminds us that not every club you’re a part of has to be like that. If you like time out on the water, driving boats, or sweet-looking jerseys, Club Bass Fishing may be the organization for you.
Most Likely To Save The Galaxy: Star Wars Club
Whether a fan of the dark side, a student of the force, or just a sucker for a good lightsaber dual, Star Wars Club has you covered. Exploring local regions preparing for their future journey into deep space and training with their Jedi weapons is all in a day’s work for Star Wars Club.
Most Likely To Save Your Life: Emergency Medical Services Association
Interested in being a first responder? Look no further than the Emergency Medical Services Association (EMSA). This organization trains you for national EMS certification and to work as a first responder. Let’s hope that you won’t run into them outside of your club meetings, but if you do, know that you’re in good hands!
Best Dressed: Blooms & Shrooms Club
The costumes weren’t the only thing attracting people to the Blooms and Shrooms Club this Involvement Fair. With more and more people becoming interested in the field of mycology, there’s no better place to learn more with your friends and make cool costumes in the process.
Most Likely To Use CHATGPT: NittanyAi Student Society
If you’re interested in artificial intelligence and its implications for our society, the NittanyAi Student Society is for you. We aren’t saying did use ChatGPT to make their advertising, but if they did, we still probably couldn’t tell.
The “Two Peas In A Pod” Award: Student Farm Club
A close second for best dressed, Student Farm Club left it all on the table at the Involvement Fair. Whether you’re into farming, gardening, or simply like the idea of spending time outside, give this club a shot.
The “All-In” Award: Non-Profit Poker Club
“You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.”
If you don’t know yet, the Non-Profit Poker Club (NPPC) is here to teach you all of those things. While you won’t win any money, NPPC is still a great way to meet friends and up your skills.
The “House Music” Award: EDM Club
Football season is right around the corner, and EDM will be on repeat at all of the daylongs and tailgates. Get familiar with the genre now, and gain a few dance partners with EDM Club.
The “Front-Line Warriors” Award: Nittanyville
Do you like camping, college football, and Penn State? If the answer is yes, then Nittanyville is right for you. From camping outside the Beaver Stadium to painting banners, Nittanyville is the heart and soul of our student section. This is your chance to make lasting memories with other die-hard Nittany Lion fans.
As you can see, these are just a few of the 1,000-plus clubs and organizations on campus. We hope you found something that excites you to become further involved within the Penn State community.
