Penn State To Host Events, Memorials To Observe 9/11 Anniversary

In honor of those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001, attacks, Penn State will host various events and memorials leading up to the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Monday, September 11.

Two events will be held at University Park in advance of September 11, beginning with the placement of 2,977 flags around Old Main Lawn to honor each victim. Led by College Republicans at Penn State, the event is open to the public and will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 7.

At 5 p.m. on Friday, September 8, President Neeli Bendapudi, U.S. Representative Glenn Thompson, and State College Mayor Ezra Nanes will speak at a memorial service on Old Main Lawn. This event will also be hosted by College Republicans at Penn State.

Several memorial events will be hosted at Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses, too. A full schedule of events can be found here.
