Designing Snapchat Geofilters For Locations Around Campus
Picture this: You’re snapchatting your friend on campus and you want to let them know where you are. You swipe through the available filters only to find some generic “Penn State” ones.
This campus is big, and you need something more specific, otherwise, your friends won’t know where you are. Luckily, we’ve got you covered.
Our graphic design team spent some time brainstorming and designing some specific Penn State-themed geo-filters for Snapchat to make on-campus communication much less vague. If anyone at Snap Inc. wants to reach us about these, you know where to find us.
Berkey Creamery
One of the most notable ice cream parlors in the state of Pennsylvania, the Berkey Creamery certainly deserves its own filter so you can flex to your friends that you’re getting some of the best ice cream out there.
The HUB
This one holds a lot of practical value. Need to let your friend know where to meet you for lunch? This will get the job done.
The IM Building
We all take gym selfies, it’s a Penn State canon event, but how are you going to flex which gym you’re at? Luckily for you, we designed this IM Building filter to show off.
The Millennium Science Complex
The Millennium Science Complex has one of the nicest gardens on campus to relax and get work done on a nice day. However, it can be a little hard to identify without a filter.
The Willard Building
Almost every Penn State student will have a class in Willard at some point during their four years here. What better way to show off one of the most heavily trafficked buildings on campus than with this filter?
Old Main
We had to make a filter for Old Main. It’s simply too iconic not to. While everyone will likely already recognize where you are, a little overkill never hurts. It’s like putting a “Paris” geofilter on a photo of the Eiffel Tower. Extra? Yes. Necessary? Also yes.
East Halls
Home to many of the first-year students on campus, East Halls has become known for its post-it note windows. This filter draws inspiration from that.
The Palmer Museum of Art
Having an art museum right here on campus is pretty cool, so we figured the Palmer Museum of Art deserved its own filter. This filter is inspired by the architecture that is featured on the facade.
