Your Guide To Penn State Homecoming 2023’s Events

Homecoming 2023 is officially upon us, along with many fun-filled events throughout the week to celebrate Penn State students and alumni.

Grab your vintage gear and get amped for a slate of free events before Penn State’s Homecoming game against UMass at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 14.

Monday, October 9

Allen Street Jam

When & Where: 3 to 7 p.m. — Allen Street

The week will kick off strong with a giant block party filled with vendors, live music, food, and activities to celebrate Penn State Homecoming. The event will be held on Allen Street between Beaver and College Avenues.

Tuesday, October 10

Past To Present

When & Where: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Heritage Hall in the HUB

Learn about Penn State’s history and compete in an obstacle course against your friends at this interactive museum. The event will be fully stocked with carnival food and fun performances.

Wednesday, October 11

BoPS

When & Where: 2 to 7 p.m. — HUB Lawn

Take a spin on one of the inflatables and explore the carnival-style “booths” that will be presented by various student organizations. Treat yourself to some popcorn, cotton candy, or Creamery ice cream after getting a caricature done or stuffing your own stuffed animal.

Homecoming & Opulence Drag Show

When & Where: 8 p.m. — The Basement

Join Penn State’s Premiere Drag Ambassador group Opulence for a night of fun and representation at The Basement.

Thursday, October 12

Pride In Our Community Pep Rally

When & Where: 5 to 7 p.m. — HUB Stairs

Cheer, dance, and celebrate with our community at the pep rally sponsored by the Paul Robeson Cultural Center. The Pep Rally will feature performances from various student organizations.

Friday, October 13

Alumni Ice Cream Social

When & Where: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. — Hintz Alumni Center

Enjoy some ice cream and socialize with Penn State alumni and faculty while watching Alumni Blue Band performances.

Parade

When & Where: 6 p.m. — University Park Campus & College Avenue

Celebrate this year’s Homecoming theme “Illuminate the Lion Within” and watch as different student organizations and State College businesses show off their floats in one of the largest student-run parades in the nation.

Guard The Lion Shrine

When & Where: 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. — Lion Shrine

Join members of Penn State’s Army ROTC as they stand guard to protect the beloved Lion Shrine before Saturday’s game. Food, games, activities, live entertainment, and more will be provided. Guest speaker Sue Paterno will also appear at the event.

Saturday, October 14

Homecoming Football Game

When & Where: 3:30 p.m. — Beaver Stadium

The Homecoming football game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. as the Nittany Lions face off against the UMass Minutemen. The presentation of the Homecoming Courts, grand marshals, the black and pink S-Zone, the “Generations of Greatness” jerseys, and more make this game the perfect way to cap off the weekend.
