Penn State Men’s Hockey’s Ryan Kirwan Named Big Ten Third Star Of The Week

Penn State men’s hockey forward Ryan Kirwan was named the Big Ten’s third star of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Kirwan received the honor after scoring two goals last weekend, with one each game against Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Penn State defeated the Golden Knights 4-2 on Friday, then followed suit with a 4-1 rout over the Saints the next night. He also scored in Penn State’s win over LIU and is ranked second in the Big Ten and seventh in the country for scoring.

In total, the junior has a team-most three goals while his two assists are tied for third on the roster. Kirwan’s production was widely expected to take a leap this season in the wake of the departure of several former key players.
