‘Dey Firing Da Wrong Guy’: Penn State Fans React To Mike Yurcich’s Firing

The coaching carousel keeps turning.

Penn State football fired offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich Sunday afternoon. Yurcich’s termination came after Penn State only scored 15 points against Michigan as the program missed out on another chance at a Big Ten title.

Plenty on Twitter immediately pointed to the Michigan game as the source of Yurcich’s demise. Most notably, fans called out Yurcich’s final play call as offensive coordinator: a failed two-point conversion attempt with one of the weirdest formations in football.

For plenty of fans, seeing Yurcich get thrown out of his office was a glimpse at a change for an offense that struggled in big games.

Other fans weren’t so quick to point fingers at Yurcich. Some looked to Yurcich’s former boss, James Franklin, as the deeper issue.

Even former Penn State defensive back Marquis Wilson chimed in…

Of course, Nittany Lion fans looked to a familiar face to save their offense. Plenty thought that Franklin should bring back his former offensive coordinator, Joe Moorhead.

Though bringing Moorhead, now a head coach at Akron, wasn’t all that attractive to everyone.

Some fans just couldn’t help but get the last laugh against a coach they felt mismanaged their team.
