[Photo Story] Penn State Men’s Hockey’s Annual Teddy Bear Toss

Let those teddy bears fly!

Last Friday, Penn State hosted its annual Teddy Bear Toss game against Minnesota. Fans packed Pegula Ice Arena with a small, furry friend in hand to throw onto the ice during the first intermission. All teddies were then donated to Four Diamonds children fighting childhood cancer.

Let’s take a look back at some of our favorite photos from the toss.

As fans made their way into their seats before the game, their hands were a bit more full than usual.

The stuffed animals took their seats and waited patiently.

After a tough first period of hockey, it was finally time to get tossin’.

3… 2… 1… let ’em fly!

Pretty quickly, the ice was covered with some teddy bear friends.

The Nittany Lion didn’t take long to get down on the ice and get some cuddles in.

There were some Four Diamonds children present to help collect the piles and piles of plushes.

As the kids started to collect the bears, the Nittany Lion seemed to be out there making friends.

There were so many bears that the ice crew needed to use giant shovels and carts to clear the ice.

With the ice crew prepped for more hockey, the tunnels were filled with piles of teddy bears waiting to find their new homes.
