Penn State Student-Athletes Achieve Record 93% Graduation Success Rate

For the seventh consecutive year, Penn State student-athletes achieved a 90% or higher graduation success rate. This year, the Nittany Lions registered a record 93% NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR), and 13 programs earned 100% ratings.

Penn State recorded scores of 92% in 2020, 2021, and 2022 and has collected a better GSR than the average for all Division I institutions (90%) for the past three years.

Penn State women’s basketball, women’s fencing, field hockey, men’s and women’s golf, women’s lacrosse, softball, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s volleyball, and wrestling each registered 100% GSRs, while an additional seven teams earned a score above the national average.

“Our student-athletes continue to raise the bar in the classroom and their commitment to graduating from Penn State,” Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Pat Kraft said in a release. “We have a tradition of academic excellence that is second to none, and our student-athletes prove year after year that they can produce championship-level performances in the classroom and in competition. Our Morgan Academic Center staff continues to provide our student-athletes with all the resources they need to be successful in the classroom, and we are grateful for their service to our students.”

The Penn State field hockey and women’s tennis teams earned a 100% GSR for the 19th consecutive year since the beginning of the data release in 2005. Additionally, the women’s golf and hockey team has received a perfect score for the eighth and seventh straight years, respectively.
