Three Penn State Men’s Soccer Rookies Named TopDrawerSoccer Postseason Top-100 Freshman

Penn State men’s soccer freshmen Caden Grabfelder, Mohamed Cisset, and Freddie Bell were named to the TopDrawerSoccer Postseason Top-100 Freshman list Thursday.

Grabfelder, a Northampton, Pennsylvania, native, fell the highest on the list at No. 14. The midfielder started 16 of the Nittany Lions’ 19 matches and tallied nine points through three goals and three assists. Grabfelder had a knack for timely goals, scoring the lone goal against then-No. 1 Syracuse and a game-winner against Michigan.

Moving to the backline, Cisset fell to the No. 74 position after starting in 14 matches for the Nittany Lions. Gaining confidence as the season went on, the Montreal, Canada, native became an immovable force for Penn State as it entered the postseason. Cisset was more than just a defender in his first season, though, and tallied a monumental goal in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament off a set piece.

Bell also played a significant role in the young Penn State midfield and was awarded No. 86 for his efforts. Bell traveled overseas from Surrey, England, and didn’t miss a beat, starting in 10 matches and making an appearance in 16 games. He also contributed to the score sheet twice this season, recording two assists.

Grabfelder, Bell, and Cisset will return to Penn State next fall where they will continue to showcase their abilities and grow from a successful 2023 season.
