Penn State Men’s Hockey Forward Ryan Kirwan Named Big Ten Hockey Second Star Of The Week

Penn State men’s hockey forward Ryan Kirwan was named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week after his first career hattrick, which contributed to the Nittany Lions’ record-breaking comeback against Army. He also tallied four points in the game, a career-best.

The honor is Kirwan’s fourth career weekly accolade and second of the season. He was most recently named the Big Ten’s Third Star of the Week in October.

Kirwan joins freshman Aiden Fink and graduate transfer Jacques Bouquot in hattricks this season. Kirwan now has 12 goals through 20 games and is one goal shy of a career-best 13, which he recorded in 2021-22.

Kirwan and the Nittany Lions will host No. 8 Michigan State at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 12, at Pegula Ice Arena.
