Alpha Gamma Rho Placed On Organizational Suspension Until Summer 2024

Penn State fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho was placed on organizational suspension until August 12 by the Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response. The chapter was suspended after hosting an unauthorized event in November when the organization was prohibited from hosting social events due to a prior suspension for misconduct.

On top of its suspension until August 12, the Gamma chapter previously lost the organizational privilege to host or co-host events with alcohol until spring 2027.

“The Alpha Gamma Rho National Fraternity has been working closely with the Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response to develop a comprehensive reeducation plan to realign the chapter with the fraternity’s values and principles as well as the University’s expectations for student organizations,” the release read.

The fraternity has also pledged to provide educational opportunities for members of the group when the suspension is lifted.

As a result of its suspension, Alpha Gamma Rho cannot operate as a university-recognized student organization, which includes not being able to participate in events like THON.
