Makenna Marisa Named Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player Of The Week

Penn State women’s basketball guard Makenna Marisa was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week on Tuesday by the United States Basketball Writers Association. Marisa received the honor along with South Carolina’s Kamilia Cardoso, Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, West Virginia’s JJ Quinerly, and Oklahoma’s Skylar Vann.

In the Lady Lions’ first game of the week, Marisa scored 20 points en route to scoring her 2,000th career point in an 11-point win over Northwestern. Then, Marisa dropped a game-high 24 points on 10-for-13 shooting from the field in a blowout victory against Maryland. Over the two games, Marisa shot an efficient 66% on field goals and 62% from beyond the arc.

On the season, the fifth-year senior is averaging 15.5 points and three assists per game, both of which are the most on the team.

Marisa and the Lady Lions, riding a five-game win streak, return to action at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, when they play at Minnesota. The game will be live on BTN+.
